MAKING THE 'SAME OLD' NEW
“And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary,” Galatians 6:9.
It’s time to gear up for another week of VBS … for another round of summer camps … for another Church Picnic … for whatever!
It can really get to you. Same demands and the same problems are staring you in the face. Someone is always unhappy with the time … the material … the teachers … the treats … the schedule … the place … the activities … the request to help … the whatever!
It’s easy to fall into one of many traps. The trap of ‘just pick a week and get it over’ … the trap of ‘just recycle some past something’ … the trap of ‘no one cares, so why should I’ … the trap of ‘any old live body will do’ … the trap of ‘nothing is going to happen anyway’ … all of them are waiting to snare and kill your spirit and God’s work.
What’s a leader to do?
Cry out to Jesus!
Remember the miraculous things He has done in the past. He can and will do them again, if you ask Him.
Remember how valuable each soul is. They were worth Jesus’ best. They are worth your best.
Remember how powerful His Word is. Teach it … preach it … share it … trust that it will not return void.
Remember you are not alone. Many others are also seeking to be faithful. By the way, Jesus has promised to be with you.
Remember it does not need to be the same old, same old. By the Holy Spirit’s renewal, the SAME OLD CAN BE MADE NEW!
