STRESS

“Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11:28.

Stress is a reality of life. To one degree or another everyone faces it, even children. Without a doubt, those in positions of leadership are especially under its strain.

It is caused by a number of different factors. The busyness of life, family and relationship struggles, financial pressures, health concerns, job stability, unrealistic expectations, and moral decline are some of the most significant contributors.

On top of this, is the fact that worry, which is the most natural thing to experience, does not help. In fact, it accelerates and increases the pressure.

It has been said, “Where there is a need, there is a ‘dollar to be made’. Thus, stress management books and classes abound. None of them give any lasting relief; most just add to the stress.

The only true stress management book is God’s Word. The Holy Spirit conducts the best class. The stress reliever is a Person. He alone gives the wisdom and strength to eliminate needless stress factors. At the same time, He gives grace to bear up under those stresses that are unavoidable.

Lesson #1: “Come to Jesus!”
